MASTER CLASSES

with Flouer Evelyn & Mark Carpenter

Next to our regular workshops, Fusionauts' Quest is collaborating with Flouer Evelyn and Mark Carpenter to offer masterclasses for advanced Fusion dancers.

On two days, they give you a chance to dive extra deep with the topic of the day, thoroughly refining your understanding of the rhythmical (Day 1) and lyrical (Day 2) side of Fusion. You can book these days individually.

In order to participate, you will need to apply by sending us a link to a video of you dancing as part of your registration

(unless you participated in one of the Fusion Teacher Trainings in the past two years, or Track A at Camp Kaleidoscope).

We aim for a level that will be challenging even for advanced dancers (5+ years of experience dancing Fusion).

Below you can find more detailed descriptions for each day and Flouer's and Mark's teacher bios.

Rooted in Rhythm:
Advanced Explorations

The fusion scene as we know it was born from African American dances with a throughline of rhythmic groove at its very core. Yet, it's rare that we spend focused time developing this rhythm at a high level.

In this masterclass, we’ll return to our rhythmic roots with finesse and subtlety, exploring both the groove that lives inside our own bodies and the rhythm we transmit through connection. We’ll also dive into the “fusion idiom” known as Throwdown— (it will be epic and fun!).

Expect practical drills, creative play, and space to discover how rhythm can support both freedom and precision in your dance.

Stretching the Moment:

Techniques of Lyrical Fusion

Let’s find the moments in our dance that rise and fall like waves… those that stretch time — then suddenly release it.

Let’s write poetry with our bodies, linked to lyrics and melody, telling such epic stories that entire novels unfold on the dance floor between two people.

This kind of dancing asks for precision and flexibility in partnering, as both partners take risks inside the improvisation. It asks for a wide range of personal movement capabilities, as you fill out the space between beats with long lines and big shapes requiring balance and control.

Using the “fusion idiom” of Lyrical as our base, we’ll focus on advanced partnering techniques and expressive movement, discovering just how much we can push ourselves on the dance floor.

Meet our Teachers

Flouer & Mark

Flouer & Mark have both been teaching fusion since the days before it was called fusion.

They have been instrumental in both developing strong local scenes and spreading fusion dancing to other communities by teaching internationally.

Through all this time they have each developed their own ideas about what fusion dance is and how to teach it, and they are ready to share it with you.
