Meet our Teachers:

Mark & Flouer have both been teaching fusion since the days before it was called fusion. They have been instrumental in both developing strong local scenes and spreading fusion dancing to other communities by teaching internationally.  Through all this time they have each developed their own ideas about what fusion dance is and how to teach it, and they are ready to share it with you.

FUSION TEACHER TRAINING

with Flouer Evelyn & Mark Carpenter

Join us this May 2025 in Berlin for a Fusion Dance Teacher Training focused on skill-building and growth. After the success of our first program, we’re returning with an even more refined, hands-on approach designed to help you deepen your understanding of partner dance and teach it at a higher level. Experienced instructors and pioneers in the Fusion world, Flouer Evelyn (Turin, Italy) and Mark Carpenter (SF, USA), will guide you through a multi-week course tailored to take your teaching and dancing further.

The entire program is meant to work through a range of skills covering everything from foundational movements to effective teaching techniques, with direct feedback on your own material. It’s a unique opportunity to learn in Berlin from two instructors who’ve helped shape Fusion dance from the beginning.

Mark & Flouer

Here is a short overview of what will happen:

WEEK 1, running from May 11-15, offers 2 different modules:

Module 1 (“Refining Fundamentals”) is for dancers wanting to lift their skills to become ready to teach and dance nerds looking for intense fundamentals training.

Module 4 (“Personal Mentoring”) is for established teachers seeking mentoring (8 spots only) in preparation for teaching at Fusionauts’ Quest on the weekend of May 17/18 (this includes most of the content of Module 1).

WEEK 2, running from May 20-24 offers Module 2 — a week of teaching development for those who are running or teaching local scenes, or aiming to do so. It is all about working with dance beginners and novice fusion dancers, and focuses on creating great fusion dance classes and building a vibrant dance community.

Here's a guide to choosing your adventure:

There are four ways that you can participate in these two weeks to upskill your teaching skills:

Module 1

Participate in week 1 only.

Level up your dancing skills alongside learning how to talk about important fundamental partner dance concepts.

Module 2

Participate in week 2 only.

You want to focus on the teaching and scene leading skills. You are free to take modules 1 & 2 in any order, but they are both necessary to move on to module 3 or 4 in the future.

Module 1 & Module 2

Participate in both weeks.

You want to spend some extra time in Berlin and really dive into this teaching thing. You’ll level up your dancing skills as well as learn the skills to host solid local beginner classes.

Module 4 (+1)

Participate in week 1.

(Module 1 included)

You have attended our training in 2024, or the equivalent, and are ready to do more.

Module 4 (+1) & Module 2

Participate in both weeks.

You have attended our training in 2024, or the equivalent, and are ready to dive in deeper. A fair share of content will be repeated.

What is the application process? The deadlines?

Applications are an important part of this experience. Because this is such a tailored program, we want to get to know you a little before we spend a whole week with you.  A video of your dancing is required, even for Module One! If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth an entire novel. It is so helpful for us to see you dance, so thanks for grabbing your friend at the social and having them take a video of you.

Deadlines: First round of applications opens on Dec 9th, 2024 and closes on January 13th, 2025.

If we are not full after the Jan 13th deadline we will do rolling monthly admissions, you will get notified of acceptance at the end of each month, until we are full.

How much does the training cost?

We are using a sliding scale** and to cover or costs we suggest the following contributions:

  • First-time-attendants: €450 for week 1 or week 2, and €700 for both weeks. **

  • Participants  from last year: €350 for week 1, €100 for week 2 /Module 2 and €450 for both weeks. **

(A fair share of content will be repeated.)

What’s included?

- Four and a half days of intensive small group training. And we mean intensive!

- A party pass to the weekend festival, Fusionauts’ Quest, and an option to purchase a weekend class pass at €80 outside of

the lottery.  (Module 4 participants have a full pass, since they will be teaching.)

- Evening activities including social dancing and class previews.

- Ability to ask the teaching staff for individualized support during the whole week.

-  Social time and rest built in so we don’t burn out together.

** In our effort to make this training accessible to as many people as possible, we’re offering a sliding scale option. If you’re able to pay a bit more than the standard tuition, your contribution will directly support those who may not be able to pay the full price. If you need financial assistance, once accepted, we’ll do our best to work with you to find an amount that works within your means.
